A woman who lost six stone five pounds has revealed how she did it and which diet worked for her after years of “emotional eating”.
Sharing her before and after transformation pictures, the woman, known only as her username “fordshan”, explained how she lost the weight.
Responding to the one hundred comments asking how she did it, she said: “Thanks so much to everyone for the positivity! I was kind of nervous to post, but this sub is so wonderful.
“I’m probably not the best person to go to for advice, but my journey has been mostly CICO and controlling my emotional eating.
“I started out more dedicated to tracking calories consumed and burned through My Fitness Pal, but once I got the general sense of calories in the things I usually ate, I preferred estimating in my head rather than inputting everything into the app.
Going into further detail, she said: “I tend to not get full very easily, so I go for high volume foods rather than smaller portions.
“I do a little bit of exercise in the gym, but there’s also a lot to be said for making small, healthier decisions like walking instead of driving when travelling a short distance (not that this is very doable with my current Canadian weather lol).”
She also explained how she dealt with her history of emotional eating, and said: “Having outlets other than food to go to when I’m upset has been immensely helpful as well.
“This is extra great because working out can be a good way to make yourself feel better while burning calories; once you motivate yourself to start exercising instead of indulging in a bag of chips, it feels amazing.”
Offering her support to others, she said: “Like I said, definitely not an expert or role model but feel free to PM if you have more specific questions.”
CICO, or calorie counting, is a popular way to lose weight, and another woman who used it to help her slim down shared her story.
Sharing her before and after transformation to Reddit, poster ‘imakebadpuns_’ explained she had lost five stone in the same number of months.
At 27 years old and five foot seven inches, this scale of weight loss is an impressive feat.
Writing about how she did it, the poster said: “It took me five months to lose the weight and I’ve been maintaining and focusing on becoming stronger since!
“I lost the weight with keto and moderate exercise and have been maintaining with CICO and weight lifting.”
Her post quickly went viral with hundreds of comments asking for more detail on how she achieved her goals.
Responding to questions on calorie counting, she said: “I didn’t really track calories but I was good about hitting my protein goals and always ended up under for fat and carbs.”
